PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE / CERTIFICATE

PRESENTATION OF PRIBATE PILOT LICENSE / CERTIFICATE

The private pilot (helicopter) license/certificate will enable you to fly completely solo yourself and carry (without payment) your friends, family and business contacts, introducing them to the amazing feeling of freedom and flexibility you get when flying in a helicopter.

The PPL (Private Pilot License/Certificate) is the first step in flying a helicopter totally autonomously. Training involves theoretical and practical training, which are both tested. Theoretical and practical instruction are given over the same period.

LENGTH OF TRAINING

How long the training course lasts is up to you, depending on how much time you wish to devote to it. One year is a good compromise between learning and efficacy at an average rate of 1 to 2 sessions with your instructor each week.

  • Number of hours of theoretical training: 100 (3 weeks to 18 months)
  • Number of hours of practical training: 39 / 45

CHOICE OF THE TYPE OF HELICOPTER

  • According to your future needs and PPL training budget, you can choose any of the three types of aircraft we have.

    • Robinson R22: 2-seat piston-powered helicopter, type HU269,150 BHP
    • Robinson R44: 4-seat piston-powered helicopter, type R44, 245 BHP
    • Eurocopter Co.: 5-seat turbine-powered helicopter, type EC 120 or ALOUETTE 2

CONDITIONS FOR ENROLMENT

Trainees must be over 16 when they make their first solo flight.

They must be over 17 when they take the flying test.

They must pass a Class-2 medical examination at the latest on the day of their first solo flight.

Delivery of Training

THEORICAL TRAINING

  • Using E-LEARNING lessons to prepare your theoretical PPL Helicopter test, you can work on your tablet or computer at your own pace wherever you are.

    10 % of the hours of theoretical training will be at the training center to test what you have learned.

    Theoretical training and practical training are given over the same period.

    There are 100 hours of theoretical training.

PRACTICAL TRAINING

Pilot training sessions consist of three stages:

  1. a briefing given by your instructor to provide you with a concrete explanation of the session;
  2. a flight session lasting 40’ to 120’ (navigation);
  3. a debriefing where your instructor will be available to explain which points you should focus on (average total time: approximately 2 hours minimum attendance at the center).

During your training course, you will clock up a total of 45 hours flying time (reduced to 39 hours if you already have a plane pilot’s license/certificate).
